Feel free to look up answers in the textbook. Please do your own work. Test due: Monday, May 7th at the beginning of the period. No late take home exams will be graded. Thursday, May 3: Chapter 14 Vocabulary and Guided Reading Packet and Ch. 14 Quiz packet assigned. (Mrs. Dawson will be at a workshop all day.) These two packets are due Tuesday, May 8th. You will have the entire class period to complete most of your work.

Week of January 29-February 2:
All week at home: Work towards the completion of your Display Board Project. Use the directions guidelines and rubric handout as you work. Also, complete research towards your oral presentation of your project. Commit most of your presentation to memory. Your presentation date has already been assigned to you.
Submitting the Display Board Project: -Mrs. Dawson's Room, Room 119 -7:30 a.m.-7:45 a.m. in the designated slot for your class period. -If you travel from another school in the a.m., please drop off your board as soon as your bus drops you off at East. -Helpful Tip: Place your board inside of a large garbage bag to protect from the weather and to losing items that are not glued securely onto the board. Early Turn-In Dates for Extra Eredit: Thursday, February 8, 2018 Friday, February 9, 2018 Only attempt to turn in your board early if it is ALL THE WAY COMPLETE and if it's FULLY decorated.

Week of January 22-26:
Monday, January 22: Display Board Directions issued and explained. Display Board Project due date: Monday, February 12th. (See History Handouts tab.) Students also have a copy of this handout, along with a sketch (layout) of the board in the their binders. Students have 3 weeks to complete this project outside of school.
Tuesday, January 23: Constitution Packet 3 and Constitution Self-Test were issued as homework. Both packets are due Monday, 1-29.
Wednesday, January 24: We finished reviewing the Display Board Project Directions handout. The Display Board Project Rubric was issued and explained in class today. (See History Handouts section.) Students should refer to BOTH documents while creating their projects.
Pace yourself in completing the board. You should do 1 section of the 6 per night, and spend the 7th night gluing and decorating. So, even though you've been given 3 weeks to complete the board, it should only take 1. Start preparing for your 7-10 minute oral presentation/speech as soon as you're done with the board. Oral presentations will begin Monday, February 12. Four oral presentations will be scheduled per class period.
Thursday, January 25: Oral Presentation Rubric issued and explained. (See History Handouts.) Students have a copy of this handout in their binders as well.
Friday, January 26: Oral Presentation Rubric one last time in class. Get started with your research and memorizing large chunks of your presentation as soon as you're done with your board.
Week of January 15-19:
Monday, January 15: No school, MLK Day
All week during class, we will review Constitution content in preparation for the exam coming up in 2-3 weeks. Review the content from worksheets and lecture notes each night so that you will know most of it before the study guide is issued. Also, remember the wording to the Preamble. It will be on the Constitution exam.
Tuesday, January 16- Thursday, January 18: Study the Great Compromise and 3/5 Compromise Notes Handout. Short quiz on the handout Friday, January 19.

Complete Reading Guides 1-3 from the storybook entitled, "If You Were There When They Signed the Constitution."
Use class time wisely, because there is only 1 set of these books, and you cannot take them home.
Also, if you owe any of the previously due 7 Constitution/Ch. 7/Civics In Action packets, please submit them late by the beginning of the week of January 8th. We will start to review the Constitution work then.

You will recite it to Mrs. Dawson tomorrow during class. -After today's exam, 2 classwork assignments were given: 1) Civics In Action Guided Reading Activity Worksheet 3 (Due Tuesday, during class.) 2) Civics In Action Outline Handout ( due Monday, December 18th. If class time is not enough time to complete this outline handout, please finish it at home.)
Tuesday, December 12: -In addition to Monday's 2 classwork assignments, complete Constitution Classwork Assignment #3: Civics In Action Quiz Packet. Due: Tuesday, December 19th.

Week of December 4-December 8
All Week: Study the Ch. 6 American Revolution Study Guide for 45-60 minutes/night or longer if needed. Have parents to quiz you aloud on the material. Students completed the Study Guide key in class Friday, Dec. 1. Exam Date: Monday, Dec. 11. See the Important Handout section to print blank copies of the study guide. The Ch. 6 Review Game will be held during class Friday, Dec. 8. Come to class prepared to participate in groups.
Also, continue to practice the recitation of the Preamble of the U.S. Constitution. Recite the Preamble to Mrs. Dawson during class one day next week. You should have had it memorized by December 1.
Week of November 27-December 1
All Week: Continue memorizing and practice reciting The Preamble of the U.S. Constitution, as found on page 233 of your textbook. Feel free to watch the School House Rock's version of the Preamble as often as possible. You will recite it to Mrs. Dawson before the Holiday break.
Monday 11-27 thru Thursday 11-30: In class, we will review the Ch. 6 packets and complete a few sets of notes based on Ch. 6 (The American Revolution). At home, review both packets and notes as they are assigned, each night.
Friday 12-1: Complete the Ch. 6 Study Guide at home over the weekend. Use both packets and all notes to complete it quickly and accurately. We will check and review the answers to the Ch. 6 Study Guide during class Monday, 12-4, so this assignment cannot be submitted late.

Week of November 20-24
All Week:
Finish all Ch.6 and Ch. 7 packets. We will review Ch. 6 beginning Monday, 11-27. Ch. 6 Study Guide will possibly be issued Thursday, 11-30. Possible test date: Thursday, December 7.
Complete Civics In Action Guided Reading Packet, which was issued last week, due Tuesday, November 28th.
Continue practicing the recitation of the Preamble of the U.S. Constitution. See page 233 of your textbook. Watch the School House Rock video as often as possible, to help you to memorize the wording. Recite the Preamble to Mrs. Dawson approximately/around December 1st. It's worth 52 points.
